The dataset contains information about the presentation, causes, and outcomes of fetal ventriculomegaly in a public Hospital in South Africa, representing a population of low socioeconomic status and a health care service with some, but limited resources in terms of screening ultrasound, access to fetal MRI and advanced genetic testing. Cases with soft genetic markers were separated from those without ("apparently isolated" ventriculomegaly), and cases were classified according to findings at presentation (severity and presence or absence of associated findings). It is a large case series including 217 fetuses with overt and 35 with borderline ventriculomegaly and is the first on this condition on the African continent.
