BioSCape Raw Training Dataset

dataset
posted on 2024-11-08, 09:49 authored by Alanna RebeloAlanna Rebelo, Nicholas Coertze

These data are collected for the NASA-funded BioSCape Project: “Impacts of Invasive Alien Species on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning”. The dataset was curated for the causal inference analysis, and includes training data points of invasive alien trees and other classes for the three study sites in Cape Floristic Region (Figure 1). The dataset was prepared according to the following pre-agreed criteria:

  • Collect as many points as possible
  • The classes do not need an even number of points
  • Points should be paired if possible (i.e. an invasive alien tree point should have a corresponding non-invaded, or fynbos point), but we should not exclude points that are un-paired (Field: “Paired_Yes_or_No”)
  • To avoid bias, the points should cover as many different sampling units as possible
